Finished my first bike ride of the 2021 biking season on Saturday, March 7. Two days later a storm dumped about 3 inches of snow on Minneapolis. Initially, 2021 started out cool, but not bad for cycling. Most of my rides in the spring are shorter, but there is still plenty of time for longer rides this summer. The end of spring time is much nicer and I get in some decent rides. It turns out that the beginning of June is unusually hot and muggy. Early morning rides are the best option. The hot humid weather remains in July along with bad air quality due to Canadian forest fires. This is a major hindrance to riding. One must persevere though and as the air quality improves and I get many nice riding days. The fall weather is beautiful and perfect tor cycling. This helps me reach my goal of 4000 miles. My final ride of the season is a wonderful ride to Hastings with a fun group of guys (Mark, John, Bill, Paul, Dick, and Rob). This was my only group ride this year and a great way to end the season.
