We start riding at 9:30am and once again the roads are wet from the rain last night, We had some rain here, but south of us there was considerably more rain. It's cloudy and there is a 5 - 10 mph wind out of the southwest. It's also quite humid.

It's Scarecrow Days in Delavan as we see some of their finest scarecrows.

Good-bye scarecrows as the wet roads are calling us. The wind is drying them off some though. The bike paths and roads in forested areas are wetter. We head to Lake Geneva and explore the city some. It's a pretty city that is an upscale resort area. Here we find our first high water road. We manage to get around it in our pursuit of a bike path in the area.

We do find a bike path but it's in terrible shape. We soon abandon the quest and get back on the road and wonder why a nice city like Lake Geneva would have such poor bike paths. We head toward Genoa City on a nice smooth stretch of road.

We stop for lunch at YOLO's (You Only Live Once) restaurant. After lunch we cross into Illinois and roughly follow a route that is parallel to US 12.

We pass by an abandoned golf course that is now overgrown (but you can still see a flag in a former golf green). Soon we reach Solon Mill and then things start to look more suburban. Prior to this it was mostly rural areas. We come to Fox Lake and see more high water by Long Lake. Again we are able to walk around it.

We are riding in suburban areas on the streets and some bike paths. Navigation is a little tricky as there are many twists and turns. We stop by the Lake County Fair Grounds (extensive area) and stop for a break by this old farm combine.

After the break we head to our hotel and arrive at 5:00pm.
